Kaemon isn't very talkative, but when he speaks his voice is hoarse and rough, as if he hasn't used it in years. He's a very kind soul, and fair to a fault. But he can also be stubborn, and knows how to hold a grudge if someone wrongs him. If he is forced into a situation where he has to fight, he's a ferocious warrior. When he's angry his voice is distorted, sounding as if two or more people are speaking at once, though thankfully this doesn't happen often. Either way, Kaemon prefers to stay on the sidelines and to be left in peace. As a shinigami he has had trouble grasping the concept of love and to understand how romantic relationships work, but he still somehow managed to find a loving partner in Ran, who's become the center of his universe. Being alone for god knows how long and then being hurled into a relationship means he doesn't know when or how to hold back his affection, and can be a bit overwhelming at times.

The negative parts of Kaemon's personality are mainly focused on his low sense of self-worth and lack of confidence. He's very sensitive to what people he consider as friends think of him, and sometimes even the smallest and most benign comment can be misunderstood and cause him to retreat into himself and sulk over whatever he thinks he did wrong. As he's also quite a pessimist when it comes to himself and his mistakes, he'll always assume he did something terrible, even though it's usually something very trivial or even something he just imagined. He cares much less of what strangers think, thankfully. Kaemon can seem a bit slow, dumb even, but he just has trouble understanding the ways the of more social and up-beat people.

◉ Story|History
The work of a Shinigami is hard and tedious, and after countless years of reaping the souls of the living, Kaemon got tired of it and decided that he needed an eternal holiday. He sought out a place where other supernatural beings gathered, where he hoped that he would be able to start a new and quiet life, free from the rather strict and sometimes brutal rules that are connected to the Shinigami people and culture. He's done his very best to avoid running into other shinigamis again, though he hasn't had much luck as he and Ran accidentally ended up with a particularly annoying one recently; Chet. He's like a very bizarre mix of a son/pet/stalker that Kaemon and Ran now have to deal with on a daily basis, much to Kaemon's dismay.

Despite that, Kaemon feels that his life is very good right now, and he's very happy and content with the quiet and almost strangely domestic life he's built together with Ran down in their house by the river. Things are going well, and there's not much he'd like to change right now, with the exception of having Chet around. But oh well, not everything can be perfect, now can it?

- Kaemon doesn't smile if he can help it, as he thinks it makes him look creepy.
- He doesn't laugh often, much because he has to smile to laugh, but his laugh is also quite... Evil-sounding, and he doesn't like it.
- Kaemon means "Joyful".
- He's very keen on keeping himself clean, but he often forgets to wash his clothes, so they're usually covered in mud and dirt.
- He's exceptionally tall and has to bend his head in pretty much every doorway he ever passes through. (But hey, at least he's easy to spot in a crowd, yes?)
- He will always keep a promise as long as it's within his power to do so.
