OC Betelguese - Tourney Sheet

This was my entry for ~purplenekochan's OC tourney.
The Tournament ended ages ago, but I have no idea who won. Something happened, so no new journals were written about it after I had cleared the second round...

So I have no idea if I went on to the third, and last round.
But whatever. At least I'm happy with my entry. :3

The whole thing is entirely made in the computer. Tablet FTW!!!

BASICS:

Name: Betelguese (pronounced: "Beetlejuice")
Age: 821
Race: Demon
Gender: Male
Hair: Red
Eyes: Yellow
Height: 210 cm
Weight: 120 kg

Special Abilities:

Is able to jump fifteen times higher and further than a human, and is also considerably stronger than "normal". He can lift aproximetly 5 times his own weight. Also, his skeleton is extremely dense and hard, almost like steel, which makes them extremely hard to break. His skin is thick and leathery.
This makes him a really tough enemy, with extremely high endurance.
He's got great reflexes, and is faster than most people think.
He has a high resistance for attacks based on fire, earth and darkness. He's weaker against water, wind and light.

True Form (Second Stage):

If he is cornered and can find no other way out, Betelguese turns to his final resort.
He can by choice turn himself into a frightening skull beast which actually should be called his "true form".



In difference to other demons however, Betelguese easily lose the control of himself when he's in this shape.
This transformation allows him to use his true power and potential, but it comes with a great cost. He suffers severe physical damage while being in this second stage, and it also consumes almost all of his energy.
This leaves him practically defenseless when he turns back to normal, which he by the way can't do by choice. He will simply have to wait until his body can't take it anymore, or whenever chance decides that he will turn normal again.
The fact that he might lose control of himself and succumb to his deeper instincts makes him a savage and brutal predator, in great contrast with his usual self.

Personality:

Betelguese is actually quite gentle and caring by nature, but he's also very childish, stubborn and easily hurt.
If he start to care for someone, that lasts forever. Same goes with hate.
He doesn't really linger with problems or obstacles, but find other ways around, which usually saves him a lot of time and effort.
In a fight he's hard to analyze, since he practically never have a strategy to go with. He just "goes with the flow" and improvise. If he ever get into a fight, that is.
He's somewhat a pacifist, and he avoids fighting as much as he can... Tho there are times when everyone, including peace-loving demons, have to stand up and fight for what they believe and care for.
He loves to make new friends and surely is a guy to count on in any situation. He's very protective, and would give his life to protect what's precious to him.

Nowadays Betelguese is a quite happy-go lucky fellow, but sometimes his high age (which isn't that high for his species which can get over 2000 years old, but still) shows through and it's not unusual that he wanders off from the center of attention to get some real peace and quiet.
His age has also given him practically indefinite patience and it takes ALOT to make him angry. Sure, he can be annoyed, but almost never angry.
When he snaps though, he's incredibly dangerous to the person who caused it.

Likes:

Betelguese likes A LOT of things. His favourite hobbies are cloud/star-gazing, eating (especially meat), hang out with friends and sing, which he's actually quite good at, and drinking. Though he's got a high tolerance for alcohol, so he usually drinks ALOT more than everyone else.
Other than that he loves to run and move around all the time, and he goes all spiffy when he sees snow and ALWAYS HAVE TO make at least one snowangel.

Dislikes:

Holywater. "True" holywater, that is, which has been blessed by angels. Human holy water doesn't affect him very much, except maybe making his throat itch a bit... Angelic holywater stinks in a demon's nose and burns if drunk. He also dislikes graveyards, beans, Hell, loneliness and other demons.

History:

To make a long story short: Betelguese was bullied and considered an outcast when he was a kid because he was much weaker than everyone else. He didn't even have a tail, which made people see him as deformed. His parents denied him as their son, and his brothers tried to actually kill him...
When he was nine he ran away, up to the Surface where he's lived ever since. Also here he's been alone and isolated, since the humans fear him.
Just when he started to believe that he would be alone for all time, he stumbled upon Nanao, who at the time lay dying from a severe battle.
Betelguese took care of the stranger and helped him back to life, but wasn't greated with much gratitude as it turned out that Nanao was an angel who in addition was a demon slayer...
However, Nanao decides to use Betelguese, with the demon kept blissfully oblivious. He thought he'd finally found a friend. If that's true or not only time can tell.

Hobbies:

Teasing Nanao, make practical jokes, gaze up on the stars and daydream about flying.
His favourite games are chess (he's never been beaten so far) and ludo where you have to drink a shot of some kinda liquor everytime you loose a pawn.
