Adrian is to most people a very gentle and kind young man, and in most cases that’s not a lie. He’s very fond of people, and he spends more time in his shop talking to his customers about their days and lives rather than try to convince them to actually buy anything. He’s a people-pleaser and is easily taken advantage of because of this. However, he’s can still have his very bright moments. He's mainly booksmart, though, and wouldn't be of much use if a problem or situation that required thinking on your feet or, well, actually using your feet would arise. He's exceptionally clumsy, and odds are that he'd somehow hurt himself if he tried to do something on the more athletic side. Aside from this, Adrian is also a very headstrong person when it comes to his ideas of right and wrong. He's got the stubborn view that people are either good, or they're bad. He can have a hard time seeing the nuances inbetween, and can be quick to judge based on hearsay. On the other hand, he's "humble" enough to admit that he's wrong if he finds enough proof of it.

He’s generally trying to be a good guy. Sometimes it’s difficult for him, though, as he has issues with occasional moodiness. During one of his temper tantrums he may very well forget that and will say horrendous things even to people close to him, which he will instantly regret after having said them. He may throw a temper tantrum for the smallest thing, if he's stressed enough or under some sort of pressure... Or maybe he's just not had enough tea that day. But despite this, he’s a very quick and loyal friend, and even if he may lose his cool once in a while, a friend of Adrian’s will always have a hero’s welcome at his bookstore, with a warm meal and bed ready if needed. He often tries to act as a amateur therapist if his friends are in trouble, though he has trouble letting the issues go after he's heard of them. It often causes him unnecessary stress and angst as he worries about his friends. It makes him absentminded and sometimes enhances his clumsiness. Adrian feels a lot, and he feels very strongly. He's bad at hiding his emotions, and is because of this quite a bad liar.

History: After his mother, a Wood Elf, and his father, a Human, settled down together on the countryside in the Imperium, Adrian grew up on a farm where he got to help his parents with the work. It was hard, but he enjoyed it. Still, the one thing he enjoyed even more was when his mother, or sometimes his father, sat down and read goodnight stories to him. With a vivid imagination Adrian had a blast listening to the many adventures of the heroes of the stories, and as he grew older his love for the stories and the rich worlds that books contained only got stronger. Eventually, close to his 20th birthday he set off to start his own life in the city of Koben, where he then remained. He'd heard tales of the grans city, which was what mainly drew him there. He was rather fond of the simple life in the country, but after almost 20 years he wanted to experience something new, as well as leave the nest. It was a very good opportunity for him to set out on his own little adventure, which took him to Koben, a place that he very quickly fell in love with.

In the beginning he had no job, and no real education except for what his parents had taught him and what he knew from books he'd been able to pick up in the little bookshop back in his small village. So, to earn some coin and to avoid sleeping on the streets, he took whatever small jobs he could find. Errand- and delivery boy, door-to-door sales, occasional waiter- or bartender jobs and so on and so forth. He was able to get a very small place of his own; not much more than a room, but it was warm and it was as much of a home as he could ask for. He lived in this place, job-jumping, for about a year. Then, after finding himself discussing life goals with a curious (and very drunk) old man in a bar that he worked in, he was offered a job. The man needed an assistant in his shop, and in his drunkeness he seemed to think Adrian would fit the part. Adrian, happy to accept any work that would last more than a month, didn't waste any time to agree to the job. One week later he was officially employed by the old man, also known as Harold Cyrus. His little shop was full of antiquities, foreign curiosities and, most of all, books. Adrian's first task was to re-arrange and sort through it all, and put it all into categories and so on and so forth. It was a job that took him well over six months, all the while he more by accident than intention partially worked as Mr. Cyrus' butler as well. The two got rather close over the years, and Mr. Cyrus expanded on Adrian's previous education. He was taught math, got to read classic literature he hadn't been able to get his hands on before, and was slowly turned into a somewhat more sophisticated young man compared to the rural boy he'd been when he first arrived to Koben a few years earlier.

However, it only lasted about three years before things changed. When the relationship between the Empire and the Kingdom started to escalate towards the worse, Mr. Cyrus got word that his daughter had joined the Koben Navy, and that she would be stationed in Linhythe. As Mr. Cyrus had no other family, he was worried that she would get hurt if war broke out, and he travelled to the port town in order to persuade her to resign or to try to get her to transfer to one of the smaller cities. He left the store in Adrian's care until he would return, and set off. He never came back, as the betrayal of the Corsairs together with the brutal assault by the Kingdom reduced the before proud and lively port town into rubble and dust. Adrian was distraught, and he kept the shop closed for a month, considering to just leave and let it all fall apart. However, after a visit from his parents, who were very supportive in his loss, and still proud of him for getting this far with his dream, he decided to stay. He opened the store again, and with the money he'd saved over the past three years he managed to transfer it to his own ownership.

He now lives on the floor above the shop, which is highly convenient since he has a tendency to oversleep quite often… The opening and closing times of the shop tend to be slightly erratic.

Additional info:

    -          He’s very fond of cats, but he can’t have one because he’s worried that it would scratch the books. Also because his father is very allergic to them.

    -          He’s never been in a serious relationship; only short flings or one night stands.

    -          He’s got a little terrace on the roof of his shop, and it’s filled to the brim with plants of all kinds. He only shows it to people that he deems to be close or whom he wishes to impress a little extra.
